WARD MUSEUM 2007 Ward decoy exhibition

Some of the best examples of Ward decoys.  The Ward brothers of Crisfield, Maryland captured the spirit of North American waterfowl like no other carvers before or since. The Wards were the Alpha and Omega of 20th century decoy carving. Not ornithologist orientated or catalogers of bird species carvers, the brothers captured in wood impressionistically stylized decoy stools of a true folk art nature. Steve and Lem Ward started carving decoys around the 1916 - 1918 time period and continued into the 1980's.
